I usually bring my own reusable bag and never use their plastic items but I wish they can try to help others people not use plastic bags and stuff

Presenting them with some achievable approaches might help?
If they are forced to commit to anything that is too hard to pull off, maybe complacency is too much to overcome. But maybe trying to persuade them that they'll expand their market appeal by stocking and encouraging re-usable bags? (Appeal to people like yourself).
This would likely have to be nudges as to not spook them, but if it seems like the solution is easy and obvious, maybe they can adopt a new approach?
I agree with this comment. Try to convince them with the sustainable option that doesnโt hurt their bottom line.
I think Starbucks allows you to use your own reusable cup so I have a feeling the smaller chains will adapt to a sustainable model real soon.
I think even big box stores will move in the right direction with the help of government legislations. Iโve read that some cities are planning to ban plastic bags and styrofoam takeout containers.
It won't happen, the best thing you can do is to hit them where it hurts the most. Their pockets. Iโd recommend supporting better alternative businesses and helping those businesses compete.
You can leave them a nice note with suggestions to help them? Or you Can go to your local council and encourage them to encourage local businesses to ban single use plastics for consumers.
Thank you all for your helpful comments ๐
